Creu Cymru

Creu Cymru is the development agency for theatres and arts centres in Wales. Our members represent virtually all of the nation’s professionally run venues, at a diverse range of scales.

Dance Consortium

Chaired by Gill Ogden (Aberystwyth Arts Centre), this forum was recently engaged in an extensive, three-year period of development (funded by the Arts Council of Wales), which focused on four elements:

  • Dance Buddy

An innovative programme that placed artist-development hand-in-hand with audience-development, the scheme paired up independent dance artists with a theatre or arts centre in a co-mentoring partnership – to increase the quantity and quality of Wales-made work available for audiences.

  • Children & families

Investment in co-productions of Wales-made work for children and families, as well as sourcing productions from across the border and beyond.

  • International

Researched and presented excellent productions at small- and mid-scale from outside Wales and overseas.

  • Marketing & audience development

Worked with Creu Cymru members to raise the bar in reaching and engaging with audiences for dance in Wales.

This project ended in March 2017 and although project funding for the work undertaken no longer exists, the areas covered remain of significant interest to many Creu Cymru members.

The Dance Consortium is open to all members of Creu Cymru and meetings rotate between North, South and Mid Wales.
